Thailand players celebrate after Busanan Ongbamrungphan, centre, won the fifth match against China's Li Xuerui. Busanan Ongbamrungphan again won the deciding fifth match, this time against 2012 Olympic champion Li Xuerui, to spark jubilant on-court celebrations from all the Thai players. Ratchanok Intanon, Nitchaon Jindapol and Busanan swept the singles contests for Thailand, while the Chinese prevailed in the two doubles battles. It was the one and only time Thailand made it to the final four of the event. Ratchanok got Thailand off to a great start after she defeated her nemesis Chen Yufei for the first time in five meetings.
